Shoji Ueda
1913 Born in Sakaimachi, Tottori.
1931 Joins the Yonago Photography Circle.
1932 Studies under Toyo Kikuchi at the Oriental School of Photography, Tokyo.
1937 Co-founds the Chugoku Photographers Group
1947 Becomes a member of Ginryusha, a group of professional and amateur photographers established in postwar Tokyo.
1958 His works are selected by Edward Steichen for exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
1975-94 Teaches photography at Kyushyu Sangyo University, Fukuoka.
1995 The Ueda Shoji Museum of Photography opens in Tottori prefecture.
1996 Awarded the order of the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the French goverment.
