In 1922 Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, in collaberation with his first wife Lucia, took the first steps in employing photography in a manner that would influence a generation of artists by contributing significantly to the definition of modern aesthetics in the era between the World Wars.
Moholy-Nagy is noted for creating images from widely varied points of view and for his photograms and ‘Fotoplastiks’ (montages). He strongly believed that the conventions of photography should not limit its use and even today, his work stands out as a pacemaker in photographic experimentation with few equals. His work is collected by major museums and important private collectors alike.
