Born in 1951 in Southport, England, Chris’s early love of photography was started when aged 10, an uncle gave him a plastic twin-lens reflex camera. His first photographic project was of Southport Zoo and he later taught himself how to process and print film in the family bathroom. He attended Blackpool College of Art studying photography and fine art printing and upon graduating worked as a photographic assistant. In the late 70’s he moved to Chelsea, London establishing his own Studio where a quickly made a reputation as a photographer. His passion for landscape and light has taken him all over the world, travelling with his trusty 8 x 10 Gandlofi camera. Chris Cheetham now lives in the Alt Emporda the mountainous coastal region of Spain where he continues to work and print
his own personal projects.
