Overview

A selection of bold and unusual multi-layered pigment prints by Ukrainian born rocket scientist turned photographer Boris Savelev, who has been documenting Russia for over thirty years. The images unite strong formal qualities - at times an almost Constructivist aesthetic - with the eerie atmospheres of the places he photographs. Much of Boris' work was banned from public exhibition in Russia during the 70s and 80s, including his first body of work of 1981 which he titled "The Secret City". Here we show a mix of pieces from across his career of that ever mysterious place.
