Although in part a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the gallery, which I established in October 1992, more than that, this book and the accompanying exhibition serve as a curious survey of the photographs that I have liked and been able to keep over the past two decades.
Always a dealer and never officially a collector per se, the collection has grown almost by accident, but the one is inextricably bound up with the other: both linked by a natural and long-standing passion for photography, which has fascinated me ever since my childhood. The hunt for an image has preoccupied me for as long as I can remember. In markets, galleries, studios, homes, my eyes have always been caught by those small, sometimes anonymous, jewel-like images, some of which I include here.
