Overview
As the festive season approaches, Michael Hoppen is delighted to announce the opening of its new space at 10 Portland Road, Holland Park

From 6 December, the new Holland Park space invites art and photography lovers and enthusiasts to experience a newly curated selection of exceptional photography, making for the perfect Christmas gift this December. The Christmas collection, includes works by Tim Walker, Bill Brandt, Charles Jones, Akira Sato, William Klein and many more.

The collection showcases a diverse range of artworks, exploring various printing techniques from vintage silver gelatin prints to contemporary colour printing using Japanese gampi paper and gold leaf. Amongst the presentation you will discover monochrome portraiture by Jacques Henri Lartigue and Akira Sato, moving landscapes from Bradford Washburn and the uniquely British aesthetic of Tim Walker’s otherworldly imagination through to Albarrán Cabrera’s delicate floral studies.

Having dedicated over three decades to curating galleries exclusively focused on photography, Michael Hoppen’s new space seeks to reimagine what a traditional gallery setting could be, redefining the presentation of this captivating medium.

In envisaging the new West London haven, Michael sought inspiration from a visit to the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York and will create a place where diverse disciplines can coexist harmoniously as the space develops during its opening months. Much like the dynamic interactions found in a collector's home, 10 Portland Road aims to spark cross-disciplinary dialogues, offering patrons an immersive and enriching experience.

As part of its ongoing evolution, Michael Hoppen will begin to introduce new objects weekly, transforming 10 Portland Road into a vibrant space of curiosity. Clients are encouraged to visit regularly, exploring the evolving selection and discovering hidden gems that resonate with their individual tastes that will include everything from textiles to books to scientific glass, and a curated selection of rare post-war Japanese posters.

This Christmas, Michael Hoppen invites you to give the gift of art. The gallery will be closed for the holidays from the afternoon of 20th December reopening 4th January 2024.
